Starbar type SE protection tubes are made of special high-density reaction bonded silicon carbide. With a nominal density of 2.85 g/cc. These impervious tubes are able to survive severe environments. The high density prevents the internal lattice structure from being attacked.

SE tubes are available in two grades:
Grade S14T for temperatures up to 1400ºC.
Grade S16T for temperatures up to 1600ºC.
Tubes can be manufactured open both ends (OBE), or closed at one end (COE)
